Each of these movies gets the cute-to-funny ratio just right.

Hey, even the bad guys are more like victims of circumstance than evil geniuses.

Sometimes there’s a scary moment or two, but everyone’s pretty much having a great time.

And so will you!

The Best Animated Feel Good Films for…

The Best for: New Beginnings

Some movies make you want to get out there and do stuff.

Maybe spend time with friends, do something new, discover something?

Either way, I’ve got a film you’ll love

Or maybe you just want to watch someone else do it.

Either way, I’ve got a film you’ll love.

`Madagascar´ (2005, Eric Darnell, Tom McGrath)

You can’t help but feel inspired by the upbeat adventures of these New York giants.

It’s impossible not to giggle at this movie.  So much fun, and so many cute, weird characters!

King Julian, Melman, the penguins – who’s your favourite?

The Best for: New Ways of Thinking

It’s nice to watch movie characters overcome obstacles to solve a problem.

I love seeing them find a new way of looking at things, or finally realise they didn’t understand until this new twist in events.

`Monsters, Inc.´ (2001, John Lasseter)

Guess what?

It turns out monsters are petrified of humans, and the results will make you smile in no time

Here’s a hint.

‘Put that thing back where it came from, or so help me-‘

The Best for: Animals with Talent

Have a secret passion or talent?

Want to meet some animals who can sympathise?  Of course you do!

`Surf’s Up´ (2007, Ash Brannon, Chris Buck)

I know, I know.  Penguins again!

Sure these guys are cute.  But like Madagascar, it’s not all snuggly-wuggly.

I know, I know.  Penguins again

They’re kind of chilled, but ambitious too – after all, the Penguin World Surfing Championship is serious stuff.

The Best for: Vintage Cuteness

Some of the best animated feel good films are the visual equivalent of a nice hot chocolate.

Here’s the ultimate in cosy viewing, a classic movie based on classic books.  It doesn’t get more heart-warming that this.

`The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh´ (1977, John Lounsbery, Wolfgang Reitherman)

You can’t go wrong with the Winnie the Pooh movies for snuggly cuteness and happy adventures.

As a fan of the A. A. Milne books, I can’t help loving the book-related references.

Snuggly cuteness and happy adventures

Take a tip from Pooh and watch this film on a Winds-day.

But be a very wary bear – there are heffalumps and woozles on the loose.

Hi, I’m Jane, BA (Drama, Film and TV) and MA (Cultural and Creative Industries). When I’m not writing about creative things, I’m designing or planning them. If you’re brave enough to risk an avalanche, look behind the stacks of books and DVDs and you’ll find me balancing a cup of tea, a handful of knitting and a cupcake.
