‘The Holiday’ (Nancy Meyers, 2006)

Starting off the list for Christmas romantic movies is ‘The Holiday’, starring a number of talents including Kate Winslet and Jude Law.

In this movie like ‘A Bride for Christmas’, two women (Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet) swap houses and countries over the Christmas period.

As luck would have it, both find love at the new houses (Jack Black and Jude Law). Just as they were starting to get cozy together however, they realise they will have to return home soon, which means their relationships are in jeopardy.

‘Love Actually’ (Richard Curtis, 2003)

‘Love Actually’ is the British romantic comedy that sees a number of famous faces clamour together for one reason- love.

Split over several entwining stories, this film follows a number of characters over Christmas and their love stories.

In the mix, there’s the Prime Minister (hey he needs love too!) and an aging couple facing a breakup.

With Richard Curtis (‘Four Weddings and a Funeral) behind it, you can sure bet that this became a Christmas classic for many around the world.

‘Picking Up & Dropping Off’ (Steven Robman, 2003)

Like ‘A Bride for Christmas’, this holiday set movie is a made for TV Christmas that is meant to charm its audiences.

Scott Wolf (‘Double Dragon’!) stars in this mushy romantic comedy as a single father who finds love at the most bizarre of places – an airport.

Romance blossoms whilst both single parent’s drop their child off at the airport, which sees them meet up every few months or so.

Yes the premise to the film is silly, but it’s Christmas so they get away with it.

‘Gremlins’ (Joe Dante, 1984)

‘Gremlins’ is the much loved Christmas classic that has become a staple in most people’s homes each year.

Whilst searching for the perfect Christmas present, a gadget salesman father stumbles across the weirdly cute creature called a Mogwai.

But there are strict rules attached to the creature. When all three rules are broken, a night of chaos ensues, as the family have to take on evil spawns of the creature.

In the middle of all of the chaos, the teens still manage to fall in love, becuase nothing says romance quite like a Gremlin!
