Jane Howarth itcherCall your best friend – it’s time to plan a girls’ night in with these comedies like 27 Dresses.  I’ve got a few you’d expect, a few you might not, but each of these movies is cute and fun. ~ Jane Howarth

So, what Movies are Like 27 Dresses?

Love is patient, love is kind, love means slowly losing your mind

There are tons of good movies like 27 Dresses (Anne Fletcher, 2007) out there, and some pretty extensive lists too.But they’re pretty varied.Even if the setting is the same, they don’t always capture that same heart-warming feeling or share the same sense of humour, so I’ve put together my own list.

Prepare yourselves – they’re not all wedding movies. I know, I know, but I think you’ll like them.

Get ready for more giggles, hidden agendas, confusion and romance in these five romantic comedies.

`13 Going On 30´(Gary Winick, 2004)

Cute movies like `27 Dresses´ don’t get much more fluffy and funny than this

A 13 year old makes a wish, dropping herself straight into a ready-made 30 year old life complete with grown-up clothes, friends, boyfriends, and a career.

I don’t know about you, but there are definitely times when I feel like a 13 year old who’s just playing at this grown-up stuff.

A point in this movie’s favour? Jennifer Garner actually seems pretty likeable in real life.

`Hôtel Normandy´ (Charles Nemes, 2013)

Alice, played by Héléna Noguerra, hasn’t found love since the death of her husband

Her work buddies, Isabelle and Pénélope, set up a fake chance meeting with the ‘perfect’ guy to boost her confidence, but she ends up meeting an actual dating candidate, Jaques (Eric Elmosnino), at the same location.

This warm comedy is perfect girlie night viewing, but it’ll also cheer you up on a rainy afternoon.

`The Wedding Singer´ (Frank Coraci, 1998)

I’ve got to admit, I’m not much of an Adam Sandler fan, but there’s so much to love about this movie

This movie has more of the behind-the-scenes wedding theme from 27 Dresses, following Adam Sandler’s wedding singer, Robbie (aha, the title makes sense now) and Drew Barrymore’s waitress, Julia.

But for me, the biggest scene-stealer isthe ‘80s setting.

If you’re anything like me, you love to hate Jane’s wardrobe full of flouncy bridesmaid dresses (in classy ‘80s fashion)

`Two Weeks Notice´ (Marc Lawrence, 2002)

Miss Congeniality (Donald Petrie, 2000) writer Marc Lawrence wrote and directed this funny, and pretty darn cute, movie.

Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant play a totally mismatched, would-be couple – Lucy is an activist lawyer employed by George, a billionaire with no concept of money or social values.

Sandra Bullock is likeable and clumsy as a selfless type who would definitely sympathise with Jane’s predicament.

`It Happened One Night´ (Frank Capra, 1934)

Claudette Colbert called it ‘the worst movie in the world’, its production should have been a disaster, but somehow it was an absolute success and for me it’s one of the classic movies you must watch.

Like 27 DressesKevin, Clark Gable’s Peter Warne is a reporter badly in need of a story

When he meets runaway heiress Ellen Andrews (Colbert) on a cross country bus, he agrees to help her get to New York, with his eyes on the scoop it’ll give him.

Oh, and if you’re hoping for one more on-screen wedding on this list?  You’re in luck!

Cute characters, warm storylines and a couple of nice plot twists – plus some ‘interesting’ wardrobes – make the perfect girls’ night in movies, so I think you might just like them too.Seen them all, or looking for something a little different? No problem!  Paola’s got some great unknown romantic comedies ready and waiting for you to discover.

What do you Love most about 27 Dresses?

It could be the bridesmaid dress montage, or the bar scene’s destined to forever change the way you hear that Elton John song?
