5 Games Like Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey

Have you already completed Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and you’re looking for something similar to play? Or maybe you want to play it, but you’re saving up for something else? Either way, these recommendations are for you.

ASSASSIN’S CREED: ORIGINS (Ubisoft Montreal, 2017)

While generally speaking you can pick up most Assassin’s Creed games and get a similar enough experience, Origins was the game that started to introduce the more RPG feel found in Odyssey – plus the ancient Egypt setting is also more similar to ancient Greece than, say, the French revolution.

MIDDLE-EARTH: SHADOW OF MORDOR (Monolith Productions, 2014)

An open-world action stealth hybrid, Shadow of Mordor didn’t reinvent the wheel, but it did add one very interesting wrinkle – the Nemesis system had you form dynamic rivalries with proceduraly generated orc captains, making for a more personal and engaging experience.

HORIZON: ZERO DAWN (Guerrilla Games, 2017)

Assassin’s Creed has many things going for it, but giant robot dinosaurs is not one of them – and that’s where Horizon: Zero Dawn’s sprawling, imaginative open world has it beat. Learn the history of this unique setting, conquer its deadliest foes and save it from a newly emerging threat.

FAR CRY: PRIMAL (Ubisoft Montreal, 2016)

Another long-standing Ubisoft franchise, Far Cry took an unusual turn with this instalment, taking players back to prehistoric times and replacing their arsenal of guns with far more primitive weapons and gear.

THIEF (Eidos Montreal, 2014)

A remake/reboot of the classic dark fantasy stealth series, Thief has you play as Garret, a master, well, thief who steals from the rich. Fans of the classics might be put off by this modern take, but more casual players have plenty to look forward to in this action stealth title.
