How Do I Find Music Similar to What I Like?
The age old question: how do I find music similar to what I like?
Both mental and physical health can be improved with music. It’s a fact and really serious studies prove it! So let’s listen to music!
That being said, even without having to spend hours in a lab making neurological researches on anxiety or whatever, everyone knows the positive impact music can have, from his own experience! And one of the best momentums in music is the moment you discover a new song or artist and you love it.

However, it’s not the simplest task nowadays to find music like what I like considering, on one hand that 90% of the radios play the same 50 songs in a loop and that, on the other hand, the internet is overloaded with information.

So, How to Find Music Similar to What I Like?
Let’s pretend here that we all know how great Last.fm, Jango or Pandora (for the lucky ones living in the US) are! Because indeed, they are pretty useful tools to find new artists or songs. I particularly enjoy Jango because from the moment you enter the artist you like, the algorithm selects and launches a playlist with similar artists. It’s quite similar to Pandora, maybe a little bit less accurate but you can use it from anywhere in the world, it’s less polluted by advertising and you can skip as many artists / songs as you want.
Anyway, my point here is that fortunately, these are not the only means to find music you like in our Web 2.0 World! Allow me to introduce … itcher!
Unlike the above mentioned sites, itcher is an app that links its users together based on their tastes in music and works as a word-of-mouth platform of recommendations. So instead of having a computer setting up a playlist for you, based only on one artist you selected, you have real people from all over the world, advising you on what you should or should not listen to.

What’s also important to mention is that with Jango or Pandora, you have a playlist, which is great when you’re having some friends over and you don’t want to change music every 3 minutes or you want to relax and just set a mood. But you don’t necessarily have the reflex to check your laptop when a great song is playing, and therefore you don’t really keep track of it. itcher works differently. It recommends you to check this or this artist and tells you why … If you don’t like the latest suggestion, just tell itcher and you won’t get recommendations like that anymore. And of course if you like it, you’ll get plenty of them 🙂
And How Does it Work in Practice?
Just follow these steps to get started! You're gonna love it.
You first need to install itcher on your smartphone (obviously) and create an account. Then you’ll have to list and rate the music, songs, artists, you love, the ones you hate, the ones that are only OK etc. And then … that’s it! Then itcher connects you with like-minded people from all over the world and gives you your recommendations!
Keep in mind that your profile is built on your ratings, so basically, the more you use it, the more accurate the recommendations become and the better it gets …

So let’s listen to music and feel good guys!
